Lutein is a compound known as a carotenoid and can be found naturally in plants such as carrots, imbuing them with their famous orange glow. Carotenoids are a powerful form of antioxidant and contributes to reducing the free radicals circulating around our bodies. However, Lutein specifically is more well-known for its presence in our eyes. As we age our levels of lutein naturally reduces and can be further damaged by oxidative stress.
